Matt graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting from Syracuse University. While at Syracuse, Matt appeared in numerous productions with the Syracuse University Drama Department and Syracuse Stage. He also studied at Shakespeare’s Globe in London, with the Aaron Sorkin Entertainment Practicum in Los Angeles, and the Arielle Tepper Madover’s Tepper Semester in New York City. Matt enjoys performing improv comedy, and has trained with Second City and Upright Citizens Brigade. Seasonally from 2001 to 2007, Matt entertained guests at Walt Disney World in Florida. He appeared in parades and shows throughout the parks. Matt also wants you to know that he has appeared in many shows that never made it to your television, including Comedy Central’s “Evan & Gareth Are Trying To Get Laid,” and CBS’s “Can Openers.”

Matt made his New York directorial debut in 2010 with BJ: A Musical Romp, which won Best Musical in the Planet Connections Theater Festivity. Most recently, Matt directed ODYSSEY (The Araca Project, American Theatre of Actors) starring Eddie Korbich (The Little Mermaid), Janine DiVita (Grease), Emma Zaks (Hair), Colleen Ballinger (Miranda Sings) and Colleen Zenk (As The World Turns).

Matt wrote the book for ODYSSEY, a new musical adaptation of Homer’s epic. ODYSSEY was recently staged at The American Theatre of Actors in midtown Manhattan. The production was part of the inaugural season of The Araca Project, a new initiative of The Araca Group (Urinetown, Wicked, Rock of Ages).

Matt’s first New York producing credit was for Wait of the World, an award-winning new play featured in the Planet Connections Festivity. Matt is part of a new generation of musical producers, and has most recently produced BJ: A Musical Romp, and ODYSSEY. He is also a proud member of the “People of Godspell,” an innovative community producing Godspell, the first-ever community-funded Broadway musical. Godspell is currently running at the Circle in the Square Theatre on Broadway, and has just announced a national tour, launching in 2013.

Matt loves marketing. He has long worked as a freelance consultant in marketing, branding, and social media to various industries. For four years, Matt has handled the marketing for the Wine, Beer & Spirits Division at The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, where he worked on a re-branding of A&P’s liquor stores. Matt has also worked at Warner Bros. in Burbank, and The Weinstein Company in London, and has designed the marketing for numerous shows and festivals in New York City.
